This course defines and discusses various components of the respiratory system.The respiratory system's function is to allow oxygen exchange through all parts of the body. Main functions of the respiratory system include exchange of gases, homeostasis, olfaction, and production of speech. Processes of breathing, external respiration, and internal respiration necessary to get oxygen to cells and eliminate gaseous waste. Main purpose of air movement is to take in oxygen and expel carbon dioxide. This course explains the many essential parts of the respiratory system such as: respiratory tracts, respiratory mucosa, nose, pharynx, larynx, bronchi, bronchioles, alveoli, lungs, and pleura.
